Bread and Butter Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

Crew 153: The whole area around the Butter Factory has been fenced off for some serious construction. It looks like a long term project and it is not clear what will be remaining after completion. Pity to have to archive an oldest 500 but hopefully a new cache can be placed in the area when everything settles.

Geocache Description:

Located close to the Kingston Butter Factory.

The Kingston Butter Factory was built in 1907 and clad in the current brick facade in 1932. It was then producing 40-50 tons of butter per week from local milk.

Butter production ceased in 1983 and the Logan City Council acquired the building and converted it into a community centre.

It now houses:-

An Arts and Crafts Cooperative.
Logan City Historical Museum.
Butterbox Theatre.
An Atrium display and function area.

While there make use of Australia's first solar power barbecue near the cache.

Stealth may be required if the area is being used.

The Museum and Arts and Crafts are open 10am to 4:30pm daily. There is a gate on the car park entrance but as the Theatre and Atrium can hold functions it may be open outside those hours.
