During a short trip through the southern portions of the Alaska highway system I ventured into Haines only to find that there are (currently) no geocaches in Haines!
“Down the Tubes” is not a reflection of the location so much as the view from the location. Near the site of this geocache is a collection of tubes that come off the hill and slope down to a service facility just past the terminal offices of the Alaska Marine Highway. This cache was placed to give passengers of the ferry system a chance to log one more cache when leaving Alaska or logging one of their first caches when entering Alaska. Passengers also have the opportunity to enter Alaska through the nearby town of Skagway, either way enjoy your trip along the Alaska Marine Highway!
Cache is a micro but is large enough to contain the pencil I left for geocachers to use.
Small note on cache maintenance: Fellow Geocacher "Ellesmere" has agreed to co-sponsor the cache. Thanks!
