BIKE OR HIKE #3 Traditional Cache
Please note Use of geocaching.com services is subject to the terms and conditions
in our disclaimer.
Located on the two mile stretch of Bike trail between Country Club Road and Loxa. It's shorter and more scenic to enter the trail from the Country Club Road. Parking is available there. You will hike about 1 1/2 miles round trip, but well worth the time & effort. DO NOT DRIVE ON THE TRAIL, YOU COULD BE ARRESTED!
This is my most scenic cache yet. I saw lots of wildlife when I hiked it including: great blue herons, turtles on the pond, creatures in the river, blue-birds, blue-jays, robins, goldfinches, and many more birds. Squirrels barked at me and deer left tracks on the trail. I had the trail to myself as I enjoyed the fall colored leaves and many plants growing along the trail including bittersweet, honeysuckle and lots of interesting flora I could not identify. (I needed flowerdoc with me). You ought to take your camera and post some pretty pics of the area. (I forgot mine) You will pass by a beautiful pond, lots of woods, a very attractive golf course, Riley creek which has a neat tunnel under the trail. I will post the coords where you can climb down on the North side and see it. Watch for golf carts crossing the trail in a couple of places. The cache is hidden in the neighborhood of the 17th hole.
The cache containor is a plastic peanut butter jar painted black and has original contents of: a green frog that looks like "Signal", a yellow "surprise", a yellow marble, two smooth rocks (probably River Explorer's), an Airvac Team pin, two brand new AA batteries, a log book and pencil and for the FTF a very touching TB. Be sure and put the lid back on tight to keep things dry.
An extra helpful hint: Once you are in line with the cache from the trail...don't go straight in...walk about 25 steps further West and kinda circle back to it...it will be a lot easier.
