Tree of Knowledge & Life - A Tribute to Pappy90 Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

Groundhog & Shadow: I have decided to archive this cache as I can't hide the cache like I had before. I intend to rehide a cache here in a few weeks. So, different hide, new cache soon.

Geocache Description:

This micro cache, slightly challenging, is hidden less than 400m from Highway 97 by the Kalamalka Forestry Centre -- Research Station and Seed Orchard in Vernon. As this is a log-only cache, please bring a pen. Sorry no hiking here -- it's almost a drive-up cache! Please don't go through the gate!

Tree breeding and related research projects of BC Ministry of Forests have been underway here since 1978. Gain knowledge from the signage at the kiosk -- of the life and reproduction of BC's evergreen trees!

Turn at the first set of lights coming into Vernon on Highway 97 from the south (or the last when leaving) onto College Way, and then onto Reservoir Road.

This cache is dedicated to Pappy 90, a Forest Industry Consultant, who is a very knowledgable sibling. (We actually tease him about being a "know it all!") He is also the guilty party who got us involved in this addictive hobby/activity. Thanks Pappy90! Partnered with Dyelo & Blue Heron, these avid cachers from the Salmo/West Kootenay area have 235 finds and 14 hides so far under their belt. Pappy90 often uses the latin names of trees or plants in his clues.

Also, thanks to GrinderG for the teeny cache container he left in a cache which we have used here!

P.S. Honorable mention goes to BJD3, a local cacher we've met, who works nearby for the BC Ministry of Forests, and we expect to be FTF! (No, he doesn't have any "knowledge" about this new cache!)
