Sorry Omaha and Contryguy, Plattsmouth doesn’t have a tank. But it
has a cannon. Not a very big cannon, mind you. And its ancestry is
somewhat questionable (see its painted-over brass plaque). But it’s
ours; so (what else?), I put a cache on it. The cannon was
purchased by the Plattsmouth American Legion after WWI. Its
manufacture and origin is still being researched. This type was
popular from the US-Mexican war until WWI. It was call a “flying
cannon” for its high mobility.
Added 27 October 2006: As noted by a logger and something I
overlooked mentioning, the cannon is in a cemetery, whose gates
close before night fall (about 5:00pm) and open around sunrise
(about 7:00am).
Added 28 October 2006: Two members of the crew sat in front of
the shield when the cannon was rolling (bouncing) along (hint
hint). Not being dummies, they sat behind the shield when tending
to business. Also upgraded the difficulty to from 2 to 3.
