Geocache Description:

Road across desert

A quick cache to have you close to the Lariat Cave. This is the entrance to public lands. Remember you are out in the middle of no where. Be careful! While your out here check out the cave on down the road a ways. This is one of the undiscovered gems in the Gem State. This is an underground lava tube. The Lariat Cave is one way cool place that has been relatively untouched. It maintains a temp of 49 degs year round. Please leave the area cleaner than you left it. Inside the cave is a cave log that is a little worse for wear but mostly readable. The cave goes back a good 500 or so feet. About 3/4 of the way you will have to climb on hands and knees for a very short distance and it opens up again. Most of the walk is standing. On our way out it appeared very different than on the way in. Remember which path you take so you don’t get confused on the way out. We drove my Pontiac Bonneville to the cave with some bottom rubbing and rough bits. Recommend a high clearance vehicle. Cache may not be winter accessible. Use North Pleasent Valley Rd to Winters Rd. Left on Minidoka/Arco Rd. If the road is muddy don’t go and tear things up. Take some good flash lights. Expect to spend 30 minutes to to to end and back. Turn at N42 55.348 W113 09.763 Cave entrance is N42 55.084 W113 11.499
