This is one of a series of caches on a newish system of trails for
which COSCA has recently taken over the maintenance. We helped do
some work on this trail on the 2006 Trails Day, and came back the
next day to hide a few caches on it. This trail used to be private,
but it is now another public-use trail in the Dos Vientos area
Did you know that at least a couple
of COSCA rangers are active geocachers? BTW: we left room at
either end of this series for one of the local Masters of Camo
to hide one of their devious little surprises
If you use the waypoint that we give (see below this
description; there are several places to park to reach this TH
waypoint), this is the first cache you'll come to. It's about 38
feet off the trail, up a short game path (step lightly! No
geo-trails, please :-o) that makes it very easy to access the
hiding spot. Because of all the visible rooftops (and backyards)
nearby, this is one of those unusual caches that might need a bit
of "rural stealth"
Please use the obvious game path;
there is no need to bushwhack!
There are at least two other entries into this area. One is near
two older caches, along Via Las Brisas. Another will be set up on
Rancho Dos Vientos, near the gate at Via Cerro; you can hope the
two-pole fence here legally (Ranger Greg said it was OK), but a
formal TH won't be ready for a while. Parking there will always be
problematical.
The cache is a camo-duct taped plastic container. We seeded it
with a geocoin and a bronze geopin. The first two finders get them,
if they wish; you can keep the pin, but please move the geocoin
along :-) After this, any trade items left are purely up to you;
trading isn't needed, but there's room for a few very small items,
or a couple of geocoins. There *is* a writing utensil inside.
Hope you enjoy this "new" trail area
