Geocache Description:

Part of the Snow White and the 7 Dwarfs Series. Look under the cap for part of Snow White’s Coordinates. There is room on the side of the road to park.

This area is located at the bottom of what was called Leighton’s Hill. Which was owned by David and Nathaniel Leighton. In 1834, they signed over rights to Portland, Scarborough, and Phippsburgh Co. to take coal, ore, minerals, marble, soapstone, slate, fossils, and limestone. The Leighton’s were to make 6% on all profits. There are no records indicating whether this was a profitable venture for them or not.

There are about 30 cemeteries in Falmouth. Most are very small family cemeteries. This one is known as one of the eight largest cemeteries in Falmouth. As you can see many Leighton’s are buried here. For cemetery info go to (visit link)

The green and red house at 143 Brookside diagonal from here was built in the 1800’s. It still has its original floors that have very interesting star patterns in them. I wanted to buy the house when it was for sale in 2005 but decided the dogs would ruin the floors.
