Geocache Description:

Nice easy hike around a lake on well marked trails. Easy find on the cache. NOTE: If accessing from Mongaup Pond Camp grounds during the camping season, there is a day use area parking fee. This is the easiest acces to the cache but there are several other accesses to the trail system with no parking fees.

This is our first cache. This is an area we love to hike located a Mongaup State Pond campgrounds & hiking trails. The cache is a medium sized plastic container which used to house Feta Cheese. When you get to the location just look for the most likely spot and it will be there! When placed it contained a pewter donkey, a "Bush Lied" pin, a blue glass marble, a small pocket knife, a L.E.D. flashing pin style red light, a Gerrity LED flashlight with a carry pouch & colored lenses, a couple of AA batteries, a pen a pencil & a log. There are several ways to get to the cache. I recommend parking at the Mongaup Day Use area and hiking Right Around the lake. I also recommend that you bring a small snack & a beverage to enjoy once you get to the cache, the view is quite lovely. You will find the cache area off the marked trail down by the lake shore. If you travel in by the way I suggested, you will find an unmarked trail blocked by a large fallen log leading down to the lake just before the 3rd bridge.
Happy Hiking!
