Columbine Open Space includes a protected area for the endangered Preble's Meadow Jumping Mouse. Due to the Mouse, no dogs are allowed in this park and hikers are not allowed in the area immediately adjacent to Plum Creek. You may be lucky enough to see Rocky Mountain bighorn sheep said to inhabit nearby Hunt Mountain, or the usual deer, elk, pronghorn, coyote, and other typical wildlife found in this region. Wildflowers are prevalent in spring and summer.
