***UPDATED 6/15/2010*** The cache is south of the parking lot, so
you can search in relative peace. No need to crunch around the
brush for this one. This cache was relocated in the late spring,
and at the time no "pokey's" or Poison Oak were anywhere near the
cache or likely route. As always please practice CITO at this and
ALL caches you search for.

This Cache is so named, because I have been caching for over a year
and this is the first one I have managed to place. The trail to
Drift Creek Bridge is a wonderful 1.5 mile easy/moderate hike (3
mi. round trip) through a mix of old growth and second growth
forest. Hikes in the Spring and Fall, after seasonal rains,
guarantee a beautiful view of the full, 75' high, horsetail type
falls . The elevation at the trailhead is 911 ft; at the bridge,
630 ft; and at the base of the falls, 532 ft. There are vault
toilets at the trailhead and a parking fee. I have recently
discovered this place and enjoyed it thoroughly, I hope you do
too!
To get to the trailhead, there are two primary routes: The first,
Hwy 101/Highway 18 entry – At Hwy 101/18 junction travel east
4.5 miles on Hwy 18 (coming from the east, the turn is just past
the community of Rose Lodge). Travel south on Bear Creek County
Road 3.5 miles. Continue straight 7 miles on Forest Service Road 17
to trailhead. The second, Hwy 101 entry – Off Highway 101
south of Lincoln City, north of Salishan (look for a Drift Creek
sign). Travel east on Drift Creek Road, right on South Drift Creek
Road 1/4 mile. Turn left onto Forest Service Road 17. Stay on
Forest Service Road 17 to trail head, approximately, 10
miles.
This cache was placed in conjunction with another, placed near the
trails end at the spectacular Drift Creek Bridge. This other cache
was placed by a friend and fellow cacher, SgtFrey. We both brought
caches to hide and I chose this location rather than including
additional coordinates for a trailhead.
Though this cache does not have an official "FTF prize" it is
(initially) well stocked with goodies for cachers of all ages.
