Geocache Description:

This is located in West Hills Park. There is a parking lot on High Hold and from there its a relatively short hike although there are some hills.

About a year and a half ago, my friend who owns a barn brought in a herd of 12 steers. These were suppose to be for practice for roping, sorting, and team penning. He came in very late at night, and unloaded the steers not realizing the back gates were open. By 1AM there was this herd of cows running loose through Woodbury, ColdSpring Harbor and West Hills with a possee of Nassau and Suffolk police in hot pursuit. We spent over 4 weeks tracking these cows, two of which hid out in this section of West Hills. We finally caught up to one of the cows at this very site. We had to drug him and carry him out. The last of the herd was finally caught in Stillwell Woods.

Finding this cache should be much easier than it was to locate the cow. It does require some bushwacking(a little over 100' from where I left the trail). Be careful of the sticker bushes. It is a large clear lock-n-lock filled with the usual swag--very kid friendly. For the FTF there is a $5 scratch off ticket.
