Fairly easy to find and retrieve requiring about a mile round trip along a hiking trail or mostly gravel road with a slight grade.
This cache is located in Breaks Interstate Park. Use these these Coordinates for nearest parking. 37 17.590 N , 082 17.692W
Motor traffic beyond this point is resricted to cottage guests and park personnel. The cache is a camouflaged ammo box filled with polished stones, childrens book, trinkets, and jewelry. It is located near a pond that was on property owned by an Owens family prior to the establishment of the Breaks Park in 1954. Remnants of the home site are visible above the pond along the Deer Trail. The last resident beaver at the pond was seen in 1989. Fishing at the pond is allowed with either a VA or KY license and those are available at the Park Visitor Center. To reach the cache I suggest hiking on the Deer Trail and around the pond, but you may walk along the mostly gravel road.
