the cache is hidden in southern butte county a little west of robinson's corner. at stage one you will receive information that will lead you to the cache.
i was a danish navigator and explorer. i joined the russian navy in 1703 and married a russian woman. i distinguished myself during russia's war with sweden, and when it concluded, i was employed by russia to seek out the eastern-most limits of the north coast of asia. i sailed thru the strait that now bears my name. i sailed past kodiak island and saw the southern coast of alaska, but storms and illness prevented me from completing my explorations. my ship became wrecked on a desolate island and i died there from scurvy in december of 1741. a northern sea bears my name. who am i?
