Located between the NYS Thruway and the Ramapo mountains this cache which is near the sports complex is a relatively short and level walk from the parking area. Because the St. Lawrence Center bridge has been closed since hurricane Sandy, you have to approach the cache from Bridge Street off of rt. 17. I thus raised the terrain difficulty. Be prepared to cut through the thorn bushes.
The Town of Ramapo has just completed a new sports facility here along with the beginning of a nature trail and a place to fish for trout in the Ramapo river.
This state of the art facility is home to Ramapo’s astroturf field for football, lacrosse, soccer & field hockey. The stands seat 1800 spectators complete with restrooms and a concession stand. Upon completion in November 2006, the community center will house 3 indoor courts for basketball, tennis, volleyball and more, a running track, cardio equipment, weight training machines, 2 racquetball courts, locker rooms, a computer room and a dance/aerobic room.
PLEASE NOTE:
1. If you drop a part of the cache container, there is a bag with replacement parts. Please let CO know if this bag is empty.
2. If you take an item from the cache, please leave an item. This is the fourth time that I have replenished the cache items. It seems that people are taking two items and leaving only one items. Please let CO know if the stock is low.
3. In the growing season, there might be thorns and some poison ivy - be prepared to chop through the thorn bushes.- though I will try to control mother nature. Please let the CO know if there is excessive growth around the cache.
