Geocache Description:

This is the ninth in a Pawnee County Tour series designed to show off the town of Pawnee and its surrounding area. Lots to do and lots to investigate when you get off the interstates.

The cache should not be too difficult to find, however the location is not exactly flat and there are stickers, oh my, are there stickers!

This cache is located about 1/4 west of a prominent landmark called "Lone Chimney." The source of the name will be obvious when you see it. It is all that remains of a house that burned shortly after the run in 1869. It has remained an important local land mark, first just marking the corner ("Turn east at the Lone Chimney."), then lending its name to the east/west road, then a school (now the a church in the same native stone building), then a rural community followed by a lake 2 miles northwest of the corner which then created the Lone Chimney Lake Road 2 miles north, and finally the town of Lone Chimney which is currently building a "city hall" on the northeast corner of the intersection, just across from the chimney itself.

The chimney was vandalized in the 1970's, and was considered such a valuable county landmark that its restoration in 1978 was the first official project of the newly formed Pawnee County Historical Society. The group pointed out the problem to a local stonemason who volunteered to return the chimney to its original splendor, and that's how you see it today.

This cache is a round unit initially holding:
My arrowhead
Gold Keychain
2 ended magnetic screwdriver
Koozie
Beanie Bunny
Official Oklahoma pen in suede case
Beaded Ring
Eraser
Log and Pen
