Geocache Description:

You are looking for a full size .50cal ammo box.at an Elev of cache: 3710. Get some calories burned up and get a few caches along the way up here!

Are you tired of doing those quick park and grabs? Do you need some adventure and a challenge? Do you need to test your physical fitness? Do you love a good hike? Well take on the Temple Hill Lookout Challenge. The cache is located just off the Appalachian Trail on Temple Hill at an Elev of cache: 3710. When you get to the parking area look across the Nolichucky River and up the hill! That's where you will be going. Enjoy the hunt. Trade up or even. If you take a TB, leave one, esp. Jeeps or Coins. Give the next cacher some incentive!

Mostly the trail is on the AT. The last little hike is up and around Temple Hill to where the old Tower used to be. The trail is pretty good, although there are some trees down in a few places. You'll just have to step over or climb around them for now, unless you bring a pruning saw and you want to do some work on the trail.

There's a place to park near the White Memorial near the bridge.
N36 6.322 W82 26.805. Elev 1711

Follow the white blaze marks across the bridge

This is the last one I placed today (11/25/06) Its elev is 3710ft.
I made it up here just as it was turning dark and it took me 3hrs. You WILL want to come prepared, the weather up here changes rapidly. Rain, snow, wind and lightning are not uncommon. In the summer months start early in the morning and bring water.

What Does It Mean To Be Physically Fit?

Physical fitness involves several different types of fitness, and we call theses types health-related components. They are called health-related components because the better you are in each component, the less likely you are to become sick. There are four very important health-related components that you should know about:

1. Aerobic Capacity
The ability of the circulatory system to provide oxygen-rich blood for energy. A person who can run several miles without stopping has good aerobic capacity.

2. Muscular Strength and Endurance

Muscular Strength - The greatest amount of weight your body can lift at a given time. Muscular Endurance - How long a group of muscles can perform. Each activity or exercise that we do has a purpose. Some exercises are for aerobic capacity and some are for flexibility.

3. Flexibility
The amount of motion in a joint. A person who can do a back bend has back flexibility.

4. Body Composition
The amount of fat and lean tissue in your body

This cache will test your fitness. Come prepared for a good 3hr hike. Bring plenty of water.
