Geocache Description:

This is an urban cache in Berwick, NS. Stealth and caution will be required to retrieve and replace this cache. There is no need to go onto private property to find the cache.

The cache is hidden across the road from the memorial statue which gives the cache its name. The neighbour is aware of the cache and I have stopped to chat with him a few times. The origin of the phrase "Lest We Forget" was a line from Runyard Kipling's poem Recessional. In part: Far-called, our navies melt away; On dune and headland sinks the fire: Lo, all our pomp of yesterday Is one with Nineveh and Tyre! Judge of the Nations, spare us yet, Lest we forget - lest we forget! The phrase later passed into common usage after the First World War, becoming linked with Remembrance Day observations; it came to be a plea not to forget past sacrifices, and was often found as the only wording on war memorials, or used as an epitaph.
