Geocache Description:

Went out with my friend Jared to try and find a scary place to hide a cache for Halloween along the river. We got more that we bargained for, that’s for sure!

We got the cache stashed just fine. I checked to see that the instructions were in place befor taking a break on the river bank. We were sitting on the bank of the river throwing rocks and telling jokes for a while when we realized it was getting dark. We started walking back along the bank, all the while grumbling about how fast it was getting dark and that if we had waited 'til next year we could have drove to the spot because the whole area is slated to be a park soon. It was dark before we had made much more than half way back and the going got very slow and I began to think we were not making much progress. The gpsr map was spinning all around, probably cause the trees, and we kept hearing things that gave me the willies! Just when I thought we should turn and go due north to town, we came face to face with an old man that scared us to death! After we got our Tourettes under control, He asked us what we were doing out there. We told him we were out looking for fishing spots. (This was so stupid because we had no fishing poles) He looked at us for a long time and then asked if we seen any thing strange up river? No, we said together. Good, he said, I used ta drive a truck for a renderin’ outfit south of here. Strange things in these parts, he said with a weird look in his eyes. I was ready to get out of there when Jared has to pipe up with, what kind of things? We then had to hear a whole lot of BS about ghosts and a girl that was supposedly killed and hidden somewhere out there along the river. At this, I said, we got to go. You be safe. I yanked Jared away and we started to leave when the old guy said, I hope that’s not your little yellow rig down by the bridge, I think I may have boxed it in. Not stopping, I assured him over my shoulder that I could drive out of most anything and not to worry. Not to worry, I grumbled, what a great idea! We hurried as fast as we could in the opposite direction of the weird truck driver. We arrived back at my rig and were relieved to see that there was no truck parked anywhere in site. We were laughing between the two of us about the whole thing as we crossed the parking area. As I fumbled for my keys a young man came over from a group of stoners. He said he had heard us talking and that it sounded to him like we had met the ghost of Phillip Enders! He then proceeded to describe the man we had seen and bragging that they had talked to him several times when they had met him in the past. In no time at all the group of stoners were all around us telling us about when they allegedly saw him too. After the excited stoners finally returned to there normal mellow state, we said good-bye and headed for home at last. Anyway, just for the record, I think it was probably a real guy we met and he was just trying to scare us. (It worked, only a little though, we are men after all) Oh, and who can trust what a stoner says anyway.
