Tour Information: The park is open between the hours of
7:00 am and 7:00 pm daily (closes 10:00 pm during daylight saving).
The posted coordinates are for the car park handy to the start and
end of the tour. This cache has been designed to be ridden by MTB's
and follows the specially constructed MTB track. Although the track
is signposted as "NOT AVAILABLE FOR
WALKERS" the forest is very open and there is nothing to
stop footbound geocachers walking through the trees adjacent to the
MTB track, or along the many forest roads, or raised stopbanks, or
utilising the 2 hour walking track that is at times adjacent to the
MTB track. The waypoints are either on or very adjacent to forest
roads. Beware, if crossing the MTB track, that there may be
hi-speed MTBikers using it. The MTB track, with it's 170+ banked
corners has a smooth surface and is very fast.
The MTB tour is approx 10.5kms in length (does not include the
5km Coringa Loop) and will take from about 40 minutes to 1 hour to
complete. Bring a picnic for afterwards - there is plenty of shade,
many picnic tables and large open grassy areas adjacent to the car
park.
Data Collection: At the additional waypoints there are
small grey metal plates, with numbers drilled in them, nailed to an
object. These numbers are required to locate the cache.
CAUTION: Some numbers have a baseline beneath
them - take care to read the numbers carefully.
Following the unfortunate destruction again (Jul-Oct 2010) of the
cache location, corrections now have to be applied to each of the
waypoint values in order to calculate the new cache location. After
you have gathered all the numbers sit at one of the nearby tables
and workout the cache location.
The cache is a 1.2 litre camo container containing logbook,
pencil and swap items.
It is situated at S43 27.ABC E172 28.DEF
There is a BONUS cache (GC2J2W1) associated with this cache.
Finding it will add another 5km to your tour. The coordinates are
written on the front cover of the logbook.
