A short walk in lovely countryside on the edge of Hay Wood between Baddesley Clinton and Wroxall.
Suggested parking is on the grass verge at the side of Hay Wood Lane/Quarry Lane near the start of the footpath at N52 19.882 W001 41.608. This is an easy short walk on a footpath to Wroxall Abbey. There are many footpaths to make a longer walk if required. Consult the OS map. If you continue after finding the cache there is a lovely view of Wroxall Abbey and its surrounding parkland which is particularly beautiful at the moment as the trees get their Autumn colours. Obviously it could be muddy after rain but the walk is relatively flat.
In 1713 Wroxall Abbey estate was sold to Sir Christopher Wren, one of the great English architects, being most famous for the design and building of St Paul's Cathedral in London. For many years the Wren family lived at the Abbey and Sir Christopher decided to remodel the historic church and build the unusual semicircle "crinkly crankly" walls which still stand today round the north side of the Abbey garden. Many members of the Wren family are buried in the chapel and graveyard including the wife of Sir Christopher Wren. In the recent past it has been a girls' school but it is now an up-market country house hotel.
The cache is a filmpot, please take your own pen/pencil.
