Geocache Description:

Hackwood park is a large estae on the outskirts of Basingstoke, and has many interesting buildings within its grounds.
Hackwood farm has many barns dating from the 18th century and includes an L-shaped barn with 14 bays with double hiped entries on th south and east.
There is a group of cottages built in a semi-cicle again dating from th 18th century.
The stable block and riding school have a slate roof surmounted by a square clock, turret with arched, domed wood belfry.
There are two small pavilions with pairs of doric pilasters and a pediment.
Winslade house, formerly the rectory is a two storied building, roman cement with slate roof. I also believe that this building was used as a hospital during the war.
The two cottages on the east end of the drive are named Rose cottage and Daisy cottage.
The kitchen garden has a 15ft red brick wall surrounding it with piers at intervals crowned with stone vases. the forecourt is enclosed by an 18th century wrought iron screen, similar gates with contempory lamps and coronets on standards are just inside the screen.
There is alarge fountain with a circular basin with forms a feature of introduction to Spring wood.
Spring wood itself contains a ruined temple of doric design by James Gibbs.

Although none of these structures can be seen from the cache location the footpath does take you through the estate.
