Kid friendly
adventure ahead !!!
Some of the best times that I have geocaching are when the whole
family is involved. With that in mind, I decided to set up a series
of caches suitable for the younger cachers. Please bring them along
when you come because this really is for them, and don't forget
some nice trade items for kids.
The actual location of this cache is somewhere in the trail
system behind Pine Ridge Secondary School in Pickering. The
indicated parking is for Beverley Morgan Community Park adjacent to
the school. I have provided two possible trailheads, one that
probably shouldn't be used during school hours due to it's
proximity to one of the portable classrooms.
In order to determine the location of this cache, you will first
need to find these three caches, hidden in the same trail
system:
C-C-C Cedar
C-C-C Collapse
C-C-C Crack
Each is a micro placed at a height of one metre or less. They
are either completely visible in a 180 degree arc, or out of sight
in a fairly obvious spot. If you point them in the right direction,
your kids WILL be able to find them! Written on the first page of
each log will be one digit of the decimal portion of both the north
and the west coordinates of the final. You will be able to tell
which ones they are. Plug them into N43 51.xxx and W79
05.xxx to locate the final cache.
The final location is fairly exposed and can be viewed from a
great distance in almost any direction, so be aware of your
surroundings and practice the art of stealth. It is not right near
a trail, but it doesn't take a lot of effort to reach the spot.
Don't forget to let the kids find the cache! Just tell them it's
not lying on the ground. The container is camouflaged in case it's
not hidden well, but please replace it as you found it and make
sure that it is covered.
I hope your whole family enjoys the adventure.
