7 Segment Mystery Cache

This cache has been archived.

Fish Eagle: A waypoint appears to be gone which invalidates the cache, and it seems unlikely that it will be replaced in the near future, so I'm archiving it.

If the waypoint is replaced, then please contact me to re-enable this listing.

Andy (Volunteer Cache Reviewer for Africa)

Geocache Description:

Follow the lines though Parkhurst to find this cache tucked away in a secret park.

The thought of this cache came about when I remembered one of my 3rd year software usability lectures in university. The lecturer was talking and talking and talking... oh sorry. Anyway, he was talking about how people have started using technological tools for functions that they were not designed for. He pulled up a slide of a sketched face and on closer inspection revealed to the lecture hall that is was draw by GPS mapping software after the owner of the GPS had driven around New York collecting GPS tracks. An example of such pictures can be seen here.

This cache is by no means as ambitious, though we hope it will be just as much fun. You will need to use the track/ bread crumb feature on your GPS to figure out the co-ordinates of the final cache.

The posted co-ordinates will lead you to the first waypoint where you will find a micro containing instructions and a route to follow. Having completed this route you will be given a second route to follow. Having complete both routes you would have "found" the co-ordinates for the final cache.

The cache is located at S26 08.XXX E028 00.YYY.
XXX will be visible after completing route 1.
YYY will be visible after completing route 2.

Some suggestions:
  • Make sure you copy down the answer before you clear your track log.
  • A paper map book may come in useful
  • Orientating the GPS' map northward may help
  • Cachers who phone for help to the park will have their logs deleted!
