As with the first "A New Alabama Tradition" event (GCM92K), held way back in February 2005, we will gather to honor local cachers who have reached the 1K benchmark in geocaching. When that first event was held, there were fewer than 100 caches within 50 miles of Huntsville. Today there are over 1500 caches within that same radius. With all the tough micros, puzzle caches, deep woods ammo box hides, along with Jolly Green's knack for misplacing things, achiving 1000 finds is no less an accomplishment than it was for those first 1K honorees (Keymaker, Radnax, Hammerjane and Redneckgal), it's just more fuel efficient.

So, WHICH eating establishment are we meeting at? Well, you know how I love a puzzle..... RELAX, Between now and the event date, I will add several mini-puzzles that will get you where you need to be. Worse case, you can travel to the posted coordinates and visit all the offerings until you find the right crowd.

Here are the first 5 puzzle offerings:

1. From the posted coordinates, travel 229 feet on a reverse azimuth of 336 degrees.

2. On the day of the event, look for Travel Bug 509375.

3. Billy Joel lyrics:
A bottle of red, a bottle of white
It all depends on your appetite
I'll meet you any time you want
In our _ _ _ _ _ _ _ Restaurant.

4. At the front door, look UP for the red dawning.

5. And for you mapping wizards:

6.71 miles from GCTK4M's final location
and
12.53 miles from GC17FYM's final location
and
9.1 miles from GCZGA1's final location
and
1.17 miles from GCMWW0

Event Rules of Engagement:

1. Bring an appetite.
2. Find the event location.
3. Meet and greet the honorees.
4. Sign and date the event log. (No log or no date = NO SMILEY)
5. Sign and date the certificates of "Accomplishment" for each of the honorees.
6. Don't forget to tip your server.

See you there!
