Geocache Description:

A tribute to Riley Hospital staff

I've read a lot of caches with great descriptions of people and places of historical significance and I'm always amazed at the amount of effort put into crafting these cache descriptions. Sadly, I am no wordsmith, so this won't begin to do justice to the location and it's importance to the community and to my family. Never-the-less, I hope it inspires you to learn more about Riley Hospial for Children which is not only historicaly significant, but currently significant as well.

As any parent will tell you, having a child is a life changing event on every level. Generally, the labor process and the birth itself are the most stressful times and once the precisious delivery is made, it's all downhill from there. Well until they start teething - but thats a different issue.

Unfortunately, sometimes things don't go quite right and let me tell you from experience, hearing the doctor say "We want to transfer your child to Riley" is enough stress to make your head pop off right there. It was at that moment I knew it was bad. Secondly, I had no clue where Riley was, or anything else about it really except that it supposed to be the best.

Miracles happen at Riley and they happen every day. Whether you chalk them up to a doctors experience, or a higher power is your choice, but they are there. This cache is a tribute to the staff at Riley who have shown to me exactly why Riley is said to be the best.

Now for the details:
The cache (which is a small prescription bottle covered in electrical tape) is hidden near the front entrance of Riley Hospial for Children. Parking is extremely limited. I won't call this a P&G, but I tried to make it as easy as possible. If you can come after 5 or on the weekend when there are no Outpatient surgeries, there are a lot less people around and you can probably park in the circle without any difficulties for a brief time.

If you don't mind a little adventure, you can park at Methodist Hospital on 16th street and take the People Mover to Riley. It is free and open to the public.
