In 1878, the writer Emile Zola buys a small house in Médan which
he modifies and enlarges considerably in the following eight years
(his books are selling very well); he lives and works during 24
years in Médan. Today, his house is a museum; the Dreyfus museum is
supposed to join it in 2007.
The museum and its garden can be visited on saturdays and
sundays and during French holidays from 2pm to 6:30 pm (entry is 5
EUR, free for kids younger than 12). More information about the

NOTE: The cache is not in the garden!
Once you've passed over the railway tracks (there's no station
anymore at Médan) leading from Paris to Normandy (eventually) you
will quickly arrive at the river Seine: it is from here that Emile
Zola and his friends Gustave (Flaubert), Guy (de Maupassant) and
the others took the little boat called "Nana" to set over to the
island opposite the house. Unfortunately, the beach and the
swimming pool are abandoned these days, and are on the market (if
there are rich investor geocachers who would like to save this area
:-)).

Si vous passez la voie ferrée (la gare de Médan n'existe plus),
vous serez vite sur les bords de la Seine : Emile Zola se rendait
sur sa barque Nana avec ses amis Gustave (Flaubert), Guy (de
Maupassant) et les autres sur l'île située en face de la maison ;
aujourd'hui la plage est à l'abandon et cherche un riche
investisseur, avis aux amateurs!
