Amateurs de caches différentes, vous serez servis ! En voici une
qui nécessitera entre 4 et 8 heures (ou plus) à compléter et qui
vous fera découvrir des coins reculés du Lac Meech. Veuillez noter
que même si cette cache sera accessible pendant l'été, elle sera
plus agréable à compléter pendant l'automne, l'hiver ou au
printemps. Le terrain est varié et peut être difficile à franchir
par endroit.
Vous pouvez débuter au stationnement de la plage O'Brien du Lac
Meech et ensuite vous diriger sur la piste 36 jusqu'aux coordonnées
publiées. Vous y trouverez une feuille plastifiée roulée dans un
tube indiquant les coordonnées du centroïde d'un premier triangle.
Il faudra maintenant vous rendre à cette destination pour obtenir
les informations supplémentaires concernant ce premier
triangle.
À l'aide des informations disponibles à cet emplacement, vous
devrez identifier les trois sommets du triangle, puis vous diriger
vers chacun des sommets (ou juste un si vous êtes chanceux !). Si
vous trouvez le bon sommet (il y aura un autre tube contenant une
feuille plastifiée), vous serez au centroïde d'un autre triangle.
Si vous ne trouvez rien, il faudra visiter un autre sommet.
Évidemment, un seul sommet aura un tube. Les deux autres ne
contiennent aucune information, et peuvent même être impossibles à
visiter (alors utilisez le bon sens si vous êtes devant un obstacle
infranchissable).
Continuez ainsi jusqu'à ce que vous ayez trouvé un bon sommet
pour chacun des trois triangles. Au bon sommet du troisième
triangle, vous ne trouverez que les coordonnées réelles de
celui-ci. Il sera alors temps de calculer le centroïde du triangle
final, formé par tous les bons sommets de chacun des trois
triangles. Rendez-vous maintenant à cet endroit pour y découvrir
l'information nécessaire pour localiser l'emplacement final de la
cache.
Voici l'information que vous trouverez à chacun des centroïdes
des trois premiers triangles :
- la coordonnée exacte de votre position (pour éviter les erreurs
qui s'accumulent)
- la longueur et l'angle du segment à partir du centroïde vers la
moitié exacte de la droite A-C
- la longueur et l'angle du segment A-C
Il est à noter que chaque triangle sera défini de la même façon,
soit que le sommet "A" se trouve en bas à gauche, le sommet "C" en
haut et le sommet "B" en bas à droite.
Pour vous aider à comprendre les calculs à effectuer avant de
vous lancer dans cette aventure, voici un exemple du texte que vous

Tous les tubes sont installées à la hauteur des yeux. Il
suffit de tirer sur la feuille vers le bas. Il n'est pas
nécessaire, ni conseillé, d'enlever le tube de son support.
Vous aurez besoin d'une calculatrice, d'un crayon
et d'un morceau de papier. Tout le reste peut se faire avec
un récepteur GPS (j'ai testé la procédure à l'aide de mon récepteur
GPS uniquement et toutes les coordonnées étaient à plus ou moins 5
mètres des coordonnées réelles).
Pour le premier à trouver, il y a une belle
géopièce "bluelamb03" non-activée. Bonne chance !
Comme d'habitude, veuillez vous abstenir de publier des
photos qui donneraient trop d'indices (comme les environs de la
cache). Merci !
PS : Il faudra visiter chaque centroïde et
noter l'information qui s'y trouve afin d'être en mesure de
faire le calcul final pour trouver la cache.
Rappelez-vous que c'est beaucoup plus satisfaisant de trouver
une cache en accomplissant le travail soi-même. Bonne chasse !

For all of those who prefer a
different type of cache, you'll be served! Here's one that will
require between 4 and 8 hours (or more) to complete and will take
you to remote Meech Lake areas. Please note although this cache
will be available during summer, it will be more pleasant to
complete in fall, winter or spring time. The terrain is varied and
can be difficult to cross at some place.
You can begin at the O'Brien's beach parking lot, at Meech Lake
and use trail 36 until you reach the published coordinates. You
will find a laminated paper sheet within a tube with the
coordinates of the centroid of a first triangle. It will now be
necessary to go to this destination to obtain additional
information concerning this first triangle.
Using the information available at this place, you will have to
identify the three vertices of the triangle, then head out towards
each vertex (or only one if you are lucky!). If you find the good
vertex (there will be another laminated paper sheet within a tube),
you will be at the centroid of another triangle. If you do not find
anything, another vertex will have to be visited. Obviously, only
one vertex will have a tube. The two others do not contain any
information, and can even be impossible to visit (then use common
sense if you are in front of an insuperable obstacle).
Continue like this until you found the good vertex of each of
the three triangles. At the good vertex of the third triangle, you
will only find the valid coordinates of that vertex. It will then
be time to calculate the centroid of the final triangle, formed by
all good vertices of each of the three triangles. Go there to
discover the information necessary to locate the cache.
Here's the information that you'll find at each of the centroids
of the first three triangles:
- the exact coordinates of your position (so small errors don't
add up)
- the length and bearing of the segment from the centroid towards
the exact half of the A-C segment
- the length and bearing of the A-C segment
It should be noted that each triangle will be defined in the
same way, that is to say that vertex "A" is at the bottom left,
vertex "C" is on top and vertex "B" is at the bottom right.
To help you understand the calculations involved before facing
this adventure, here's an example of what you'll find:

All the tubes are installed at head's height. You just
have to pull down the paper sheet. It is not required nor
recommended to remove the tube from its support.
You will need a calculator, a pen and a sheet
of paper. Everything else can be done with a GPSr (I tested the
procedure with only my GPSr and all the coordinates were within 5
meters from the real coordinates).
There will be a non-activated "bluelamb03"
geocoin for the first to find. Good luck!
