Geocache Description:

Lock and Lock box containing log, pen, and trade items.

T5574 - Dry Canyon Trail Length - 5.1 miles

A good trail to ride in the winter. The upper part is rocky, the lower part has a couple of short sand wash sections.
A beginner might struggle, but, this is about as easy as trails get for the most part.

Lower (North) trailhead: Halfway between milemarkers 5 and 6 on Hwy 82 on the south side of the highway.
Cross the cattleguard and drive about 0.4 mile up the canyon.
Lots of steel pipes buried in the ground keep full-size 4WD vehicles from getting on the trail here.
This area is highly used by Alamogordo folks for sighting in their rifles.
The maintained road that goes up the mountain to the south is an access road for hang gliders and provides a view of Alamogordo.
