Geocache Description:

Come cache Camano! Enjoy a nice hike in the woods for a smaller cache in the Camano Forest Preserve. While you're here, make sure to enjoy the many other caches Camano Island has to offer.

The Camano Forest Preserve (sometimes called the Camano Ridge Preserve) is one of the last large and intact forests left on Camano Island. The 400 acres that comprises the Preserve was protected beginning in 2003 through the efforts of The Friends of Camano Island Parks and the Whidbey Camano Land Trust. Originally state school trust lands, Island residents and visitors only gain from their protection: public access and trails, wildlife habitat, watershed protection, and a beautiful, intact forest for future generations.

About the cache:
  • To fully enjoy the Preserve and what it has to offer, park at the suggested coordinates and begin your hike across the road to the west.
  • You are looking for a small Lock 'n' Lock, wrapped in blue/green plastic. Soon that will traded for something a little more appropriate and a little harder to see.
  • The cache is very close to the trail. Please be brave and brave the thorns. Long arms could be helpful. Ideally, there will be little or no geotrail.
  • Deer hunting season is in the fall, typically October and November. Hunting is currently allowed in these woods. If you cache here during that time, make sure you wear plenty of blaze orange.
  • When you find the cache, please remove it carefully, note how it was hidden, and rehide it the same way.
  • You'll notice a different name for this cache in the logbook. I changed my mind on the name after I placed it. I guess that's my prerogative. ;-)
  • Congratulations to Rey del Roble on his FTF. The prize was an unactivated set of TB tags.

Finally, please let me know if there are problems with either the cache or coordinates. Most importantly, have fun!
