Geocache Description:

A hefty jaunt on bike pathes and dirt roads.

The Hutchinson bicycle trails is a fine addition to the community, and we hope this cache will be a fine addition to the caching community.

The recommended parking is at the Carey Memorial at the northwest end of Carey Park (38 02.303 97 55.853). From there you are headed for a ruler to make sure it is safe to find the cache. The ruler is at the above co-ordinates. All you are interested in there is highest number on the ruler. The ruler is in a quagmire and there is no cache there, just a number. If the water covers the top number, get out of there. The river is at flood stage; the cache is probably under water.

Now, take your number, multiply it by ten and add it to both the north and west portions of these incorrect co-ordinates: N 38 02.456 W 97 56.724. So, if the top number were 10 you would be headed for N 38 02.556 W 97 56.824.

Now it is time to hoof it (cache is also bike accessible to within 300 feet). As you head toward the final, you may see other neat spots and ask yourself, "Why didn't he hide it here?" The answer is that he is Badd Companie and left the spot for you to hide one in. (He also left spots even farther out for you as well). As you go down the paved path, you will come to a marker in the middle. These markers are placed one kilometer apart. Interestingly enough, this marker is just shy of one kilometer from the cache (about 987 meters by my GPS). This is a check point. If you are not about 1 kilometer (.62 miles) away from the cache, something is wrong.

Presently the paved trail curves, and the adventure begins. This is one of my favorite Hutch running spots, but I don't know where the road goes. Photo maps show that the cache is nowhere near halfway down the road. To the north is some rather wild looking country with very poor access.

The cache is a two quart cannister covered with cammo-duct tape, well hidden in a relatively high location for the area. Take your time looking for it, stealth is not an issue at all. When you get there, you may say: "Far Out, Man!" or you may be too tired to say anything. It is over two miles round trip.
