Geocache Description:

Walk on the Wild Side #6

This series of caches (WS#1-#6) are located on various public hunting and fishing grounds located in the Wild Rose area in Waushara County.

As the name implies, these caches will require walks through these areas along fairly undeveloped trails or animal trails. Some travels may require stream crossings or steep ravine traversing though that may all depend on the path taken. Intentions are to give the cachers a chance to act like animals, running through the woods and interacting with the local flora and fauna. Enjoy the streams that run through these areas. These areas are often very lush and beautiful in the Spring/Summer months. It is highly suggested that you come prepared as there may be wet or boggy areas, thorns and brush, and insects galore.

Because of numerous trip hazards and uneven terrain, it is not conducive to night caching and this activity would be highly discouraged on this series of caches. Winter caching this series would depend on the amount of snow cover. As these are public hunting / fishing areas, use the proper caution and protective measures during the hunting seasons and, as always, be geofriendly and practice CITO.

In addition to the Log and geoswag, these caches will contain clues to the location of Ryan’s Rebus. Please leave these clues in the caches so others may complete the Puzzle.

This cache is a small ammo box containing assorted toys and such. The path to the cache can be at whatever level you wish to take, from fairly easy going to some potentially difficult bushwacking. Those who like to take straight line paths may find it somewhat difficult. Those who would let nature blaze the trail may find it longer but easier. Either way, please enjoy the scenery and if its not too cold when you are there, go ahead and dangle your toes in the stream.

The Geocache Notification Form has been submitted to the Wautoma Service Center of the Wisconsin DNR. Geocaches placed on Wisconsin Department of Natural Resource managed lands require permission by means of a notification form. Please print out a paper copy of the notification form, fill in all required information, then submit it to the land manager. The DNR Notification form and land manager information can be obtained here.

***Note*** Summertime difficulty and terrain ratings have been increased from 3/3 to 3.5/4 as the tall grasses hinder your progress. Use caution and be sure of your foot placement as the grass disguises the branches and holes. 7/15/07
