Geocache Description:

This should be an easy find in a pretty area of Northwest Kansas. The last part of the road can be bad in rain or snow.

No area in Kansas is any richer in western history than along the Smoky Hill River. The Smoky Hill Trail and the Butterfield Overland Dispatch were 2 major trails along the Smoky. This was an important trail for people going to the Colorado gold fields. It was the shortest route but also the most dangerous to the gold fields because of conflicts with the Indians and lack of detailed maps in the early days of the trail. Many travelers lost their lives along the trail due to a variety of hardships and Indian conflicts.

You will find this cache in the area of a BOD marker.
