A beautiful hike on the old abandoned part of Leroy Center road, to the cache location just off Paine creek. Please do not take the old road anymore... it is not safe... follow the river from Hell Hollow Metro Park
Old short description: "Please stay on the old road, which has a medium grade at times. There are several very large trees down across the road in two locations, and some washed out areas. Please take care when crossing over these as they may be slick, or go around them. You do not need to go on the north side of the road to find the cache. Slick and muddy at times." Be careful when retrieving it and please put it back as it was found. I appologize in advance for any mud you may get on your clothing. You'll definitely need shoes you don't mind getting dirty on this hike. Have fun and enjoy the beautiful view of the creek. There is a lot of GPS bounce in this area. 08/13/2011 Update. I'm increasing the difficulty of this cache to a 4.5 due to naturally occurring changes in the land. It is getting very hard to tell where the old road was. It's almost completely washed out going down the hill to the lower areas, which tend to be muddy and swampy with high grasses. Coming in from the east, which is the main entrance to the park, might be an easier option if you don't mind crossing the creek. Waterproof boots are recommended with a possible change to river sandals if you want to explore the creek. It is still a beautiful hike and well worth the effort. 09/28/2020 container replaced with a lock-n-lock style. Coords haven't changed. This is the original hint, but it doesn't apply much anymore because the area has changed a lot in 14 years... "If your GPS is messing up... stand in front of the center red diamond on guardrail and face west. Look in this direction: 260-280° West, and see cache location 110'-115' as the crow flies - go there. When there - it is at eye level." I also updated the parking coords because the old ones are of questionable legalness anymore and the park is better access now anyway...
