North Downs Mega Ramble: Boycott
How Geocaching Works
Use of geocaching.com services is subject to the terms and conditions in our disclaimer
This easy cache sets up the North Downs Mega Ramble Series of 10 further caches. As there are eleven caches in total, and the Ashes are coming up, I named each arbitrarily after a player from my personal top England cricket X1 (selected from the players I have watched since seeing my first test in 1968).
The cache is not at the published coordinates which are for a convenient car park near to where the cache is hidden.
You need to open the following webpage which is password protected. The password can be deduced from information on this cache page. Solving the password is the only puzzle in the whole series of 11 caches.
The webpage will tell you the coordinates for the cache box. This box will contain copies of maps and instructions for how to find the values of the letters which are used to specify the coords of the next 10 caches in the series. ***You need to collect a map and instructions from the cache box. Please post a note if you take the last one so I can restock.***
The walk to find these letters starts a couple of miles away, and is often muddy, so appropriate footwear is needed. Collecting all the letters will take 2-3 hours. Armed with all the letters, you can move on to the next 10 caches. The walk to collect the remaining 10 caches in the series should take another 4 hours approximately.
For this series, in addition to suitable footwear, you might usefully carry a pen, some paper, a calculator, a decent map of the area, plus a torch (for checking out the sort of dark nooks and crannies in which I like to hide things).
For this whole series, please replace all the caches exactly as you found them and don't leave any spoilers in the logs. I hope you have as much fun finding the caches as I did in setting them.
