Geocache Description:

The cache has a great view of the pagoda and the Russian pavilion.

In the year 1926, Philadelphia hosted a celebration in honor of the 150th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence. It had been 50 years since the highly successful 1876 Centennial held in Fairmount Park, and this Sesqui-Centennial now promised to show the economic, industrial, artistic, and scientific progress made since then.
The celebration was held on 450 acres of land in South Philadelphia in the area south of Packer Ave. and between 10th and 20th Sts., where the sports complex, Roosevelt Park, and the old Naval Hospital now stand. The Main Entrance stood at Broad St. and Packer Ave.
Two of the few remaing building are near the cache. Follow the foot bridge to the left of the pagoda, look for one of the larger trees on the left of the path.
