Defending Your Life Mystery Cache

This cache has been archived.

FilmFans: I'm not finding much time to maintain the easy-to-maintain caches, so this one I need to admit won't be coming back. It's hard when the city removes the feature that your waypoint was attached to, and the puzzle is difficult to adjust to a new location.

Of my own puzzles, this will probably remain my favorite, even though it didn't turn out exactly as elegant as I'd hoped when I first had the idea.

Geocache Description:

The cache is NOT at the listed coordinates. Solve the puzzle to find the location of WP1, where you will find the coordinates for the final. Do not go into the street while searching for WP1 (or while searching for the final, for that matter).

Whenever I try to tell my friends about geocaching—finding plastic tubs in the woods—they tell me I’m crazy. To try to explain it better, I wrote out my thoughts. These were the first words that came into my head so it’s a little disjointed, but see what you think.

Why I Like Geocaching

Life moves pretty fast-- if you don't stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it. I’m going on a perfectly innocent ride in the country with my children. Carpe diem—seize the day!

If that's what's being crazy is, then I'm senseless, out of it, gone-down-the-road, wacko. We all go a little mad sometimes.

And here ya are, and it's a beautiful day. A sky so blue that it hurts your eyes just to look at it.

I love waking up in the morning not knowing what's gonna happen or who I'm gonna meet, where I'm gonna wind up. I’ll just walk the earth. Sometimes there’s so much beauty in the world I feel like I can’t take it, like my heart’s going to cave in.

For as long as I can remember, I've been searching for something. I have never discovered any other subject so worthy of my attention. Plastics! The stuff that dreams are made of.

So I got that goin' for me, which is nice.

The total checksum for all 15 digits is 38. As always, you can email me your answer for a confirmation before setting out, if you'd like. There is small prize for the FTF.
