Västergarnsvallen var under sen järnåldertid byggd som skydd för Pa-viken,som då var en stor handelsplats och hamn med båtvarv. Livlig handel och verksamhet rådde fram till 1000-talet. Tanken var att bygga Pa-viken till stad.

Västergarnsvallen (a bank) was built during the late Iron Age as a protection to Pa-Viken, which then was a great trading place with harbour and boatyards.
Active trading place until year 1000. The plan was to make Pa-vikan a town.
