Geocache Description:

This is a geologically themed geocache located on a ridge with a view of the Las Vegas Valley. The cache is accessed by a short but somewhat steep and rocky hike for a few hundred feet, then a scramble off trail. The trail begins at a geology interpretive site with a parking area adjacent to Lake Mead Boulevard east of Las Vegas.

The somewhat battered oringinal cache container was replaced on April 7, 2009 with a more durable standard 50 cal. ammo can, and more goodies added. The cache is intentionally well-hidden to deter vandals from finding it accidentally and destroying it - a real problem around here as you can tell. Please rehide at least as well as it was found. Enjoy the written lesson in the cache container describing some of the geology surrounding the cache site at the Great Unconformity. The container has a few bagged mineral specimens, bookmarks, stickers, new pencils and pens, a "squeezable bat" and other geologically themed swag.
