Geocache Description:

PLEASE PUT THIS CACHE ALL THE WAY BACK IN WHERE YOU FOUND IT AND CHECK TO SEE THAT IS IT HIDDEN FROM SIGHT. IT WAS MUGGLED ONCE. Plese also be stealthy. This is a high muggle area.
Located in Tackapausha Preserve, a Nassau County Park in Seaford, Long Island

The actual cache is located in an area where you can see the largest stand of Atlantic White Cedar trees remaining in Nassau County. During earlier times, these trees were used to make house shingles and ship's masts because the wood is very strong and quite resistant to insect and water damage.

Today, these trees are rarely seen in Nassau County due to a loss of swamp forest habitat. From colonial times to the middle of the twentieth century most of the coastal freshwater swamps where these trees grow were filled in or drained. Any area on Long Island named Cedar Swamp, at one time, probably had a stand of these beautiful and stately trees.

Enjoy the short hike to the Geocache.
Bring binoculars. Tackapausha Preserve is a great place for bird watching, especially in the Spring and Fall. If you have time; have a picnic, walk the Labyrinth on the lawn, hike to Tackapausha Pond Park or visit the Museum. The loop trail from the parking lot to Sunrise Highway and back is approximately 1.2 miles and takes about 45 minutes.

If you get a chance, stop by the Museum and say hello to your fellow Geocachers, MATEO17 and WindRyder1.

Please--If you remove a Travel Bug or Geocoin from the cache-- keep it traveling-- don't keep it. It is not fun for their owners when they "go missing".

FTF gets a $5.00 scratchoff. There is plenty of SWAG for the kiddies in the cache.

VERY IMPORTANT--- There is no need to go into the swamp to find the cache. It is hidden very well on the trail.
