Geocache Description:

Marshall, Will and Holly
On a routine expedition
Met the greatest earthquake ever known
High on the rapids It struck their tiny raft (insert screams here)
And plunged them down a thousand feet below
To the Land of the Lost
To the Land of the Lost
To the Land of the Lost ….

Remember the little raft superimposed over the trickling rivulet of tap water? How about the spongy dinosaurs with big pink tongues? The Sleestaks hissing with their big boggly eyes and stubby tails? The little Sasquatch-lookin’ people that stole the four foot long carrots off the cart pulled by the baby brontosaurus? No? Where were you in the 70’s? Under a rock … on the moon … with your fingers in your ears? C’mon! It’s Land of the Lost, man. It was HAP’n’in’ on Saturday mornings. Right before Superfriends and Scooby-Doo, man. Every little boy wanted to take on Grumpy and Alice with a big sharp stick and every little girl wanted to grow up and marry Will. I spent many a thirty minutes curled up on the couch, hiding under a blanket, terrified of the Sleestaks but unable to tear my eyes from the drama unfolding on the screen. My husband reminisced about it, saying “I used to get up at six am every Saturday. It was my best show.”

Hopefully enough of you remember it to make this a fond little stop in a day’s caching. If you are unfamiliar with the show there are some photos in the cache as well as plenty of information online at LandoftheLost.com. And for all, the location of the cache should give a BIG indication about the show’s content!

This cache has been placed because I love my husband, Rampantbear, and one of the things I love the most about him is his ability to still tap into his childhood, to get excited about the little things, to remember with fondness and sentimentality the joys of youth and snatch those feelings up into the present. (When we subscribed to Netflix the full run of Land of the Lost was the first thing he ordered and he watched each episode in rapt attention. –While I, at 38, hid under the covers, STILL afraid of Sleestaks!)

We are stocking the cache with Dino-goodies but as you discover it please feel free to trade whatever you have with you – when you are in the Land of the Lost you never know what will come in handy!
