Geocache Description:

Standard cache, in a red cookie tin, easy to find. We're leaving a token of appreciation, hands-free phone attachment (so you won't violate Santa Fe's ordinances), key ring, carabinier, ruler, some pencil grips and a mystery object - you tell US what it is! The tin isn't waterproof, so bring a baggie to hold your offerings.

This would be a wonderful hike for a visitor to Santa Fe who wants to get his/her feet on some dirt and slip into the the Sangre de Cristo Mountain foothills. You will also witness the devastation wrought on our pinon trees by beetles in the last few years. The trail is canine-compatible. You should be able to do the whole trip in an hour and a half, door-to-door from one of the downtown hotels - perfect to break up a day of butt-numbing meetings.

This well-established trail is also a great adit to longer hikes - Picacho Peak, Atalaya Mountain or the Dale Ball trail system. The trail has a few fairly steep pitches but it's generally pretty easy going and the route tends to be quite passable even when there's some snow on the ground.

Park at the Dorothy Stewart trailhead on Camino de Cruz Blanca just about 0.7 mile on the left past St. John's college. Parking is limited, so you may want to come early, late or on a weekday. After you find the cache, keep going on the trail; it loops back on itself.

If you decode the hint you should have a 50-50 chance of finding the cache on your first try, even without your GPS.
