A cache around the Cowplain area, in Hampshire, taking in ancient woodland that most pass by and ignore every day. The coordinates given are for the starting point, where public parking is available.
The Queens Enclosure is part of the remains of the Forest of Bere. At one time it stretched from the River Test at Kings Somborne in the west in a great arc through Hursley, Eastleigh, Bishop's Waltham and Denmead to Rowland's Castle in the east. Now the forest survives only in fragmented blocks across the area.
The enclosure is used daily by dog walkers so be aware there will be Muggles around many corners. It would be wise to waymark your car as once you enter the enclosure it is all too easy to lose track of direction.
Suggested parking is behind Cowplain shops at the coordinates above where free parking can be found. Go equipped for a muddy walk during the winter months…
Note: Updated once again, due to the second cache container being muggled! Slightly different area with a lot of tree cover, so patchy GPS signal at times. Due to this a spoiler photo is available in the Gallery.
