A cache off a trail overlooking Camp Carr, location of many
memorable Indian Guides events enjoyed by three members of Team
Ecnarf (a.k.a. Running Deer, Wise Fox, and Big Ice Bear).
Parking is along the road at N40 35.885, W074 54.310. Depending on
recent weather, there may be some water to cross or slog through.
The trail is a little steep at the beginning (accounting for the
terrain rating) but a short easy hike the rest of the way.
Follow the red trail up the hill towards the shelter. We suggest
that you initially stay on the trail past the shelter, rather than
following your GPSr. The trail quickly loops back; total distance
of the loop is less than half a mile. Enjoy the walk and when you
reach the highest point, with views of Camp Carr and the river
below, start searching. Running Deer and his young braves have
enjoyed campouts at Camp Carr and elsewhere with their fellow
Cheyenne for many years.
