An out-of-the-way cache at the top of Jackson, NH near Mt. Doublehead. The terrain is relatively easy, although you will have to go off the trail a bit. Do not attempt this trail too late in the day as it's very easy to get lost.
PLEASE NOTE: I am trying to keep this cache of higher quality trade items. I put a lot of thought into trying to place things in the cache I think people would like to
find. If you do not have a quality item to trade - just leave a dollar. I promise I will not take it! :)
One of the best things about this cache is the drive up to it. The mountain views from these roads are very beautiful -it's one of my favorite drives.
Follow Dundee Road up to where it turns to a dirt road. On the left you will see a small hiking sign that says "New Path." Follow this trail a few hundred feet in - you will not need to go around the large fallen pine tree on the path (as of the time of this writing) The cache will be before that. The cache is off the trail to the left. There is no specific view I wanted you to see at the cache, it's more the drive up that's impressive. I had a hard time getting a consistent GPS readout for this cache - for some reason the number would continue to change though I was standing still - growing or shrinking significantly. I put the number down that came up the most times with the highest number of satellites. Because of this issue, I will give a big clue here in case you are unable to find the cache with these coordinates. The cache is located against a tall stump under a large piece of bark, in a green ammo can. You might also want to look at the clue ahead of time so you can research what you need to online beforehand.
Please be sure not to try this cache too late in the day. It is very easy to lose the trail, since it is small. Take stock of where you are before heading off the trail - notice where the mountain is. You should head away from it when you want to return to your car. Also hunting might be a possibility so be sure to wear an orange vest or parka.
The cache is STUFFED so please take care when opening it and make sure everything gets back in! Please be sure to return items to plastic baggies to make sure they stay nice for the next person. I did not put any first to find items specifically in this cache - however, there are a few nice things inside such as a travel bug, wool flapper gloves, bootsocks, handwarmers, parkas, mini diecast cars, etc. I personally think what's in there is pretty nice - and I hope you will too! :)
