Lookout Ledge (2,240 ft.) is a granite cliff on a knob of the southeast ridge of Mt. Randolph that affords one of the best views of the floor of King Ravine and its rock glacier.
There are several different routes to Lookout Ledge. Our family took the 1.3 mile Ledge Trail, a moderately steep and fairly direct route to the outlook. To begin the ascent, park west of the Ravine House Site on Durand Road in Randolph. Look for the Ledge Trail sign at the parking area. This trail includes deep, beautiful woods; a small brook; a notch; and an overgrown lumber road.
Other routes include the Pasture Path (2.9 mi.), Sargent Path (.8 mi., steepest and most direct route), Vyron D. Lowe Trail (1.9 mi.) and Crescent Ridge Trail (3.8 mi.).
The cache is a large ammo box.
