Geocache Description:

This cache is fun and educational at the same time. Take time to enjoy the local museum and pickup some interesting tidbits of history. Also, if you are interested in letter-boxing, you will find one close by.

Please be sure to replace the lid to container well. Also, be sure to replace container just as you found it.

On April 12, 1862, during the Great American Civil War, a group of Union spies, led by James J. Andrews, infiltrated Confederate lines and made their way to Big Shanty (now Kennesaw, Ga) to steal an engine (The General) which belonged to the W&A Railroad. They were intending to destroy the railroad bridges, between Chattanooga and Atlanta. They never imagined they would be persued by the train's conductor, W.A. Fuller. In Adairsville, Ga., Captain Fuller commandeered a train called the Texas and gave chase, in reverse, eventually catching the "Andrew's Raiders" just north of Ringgold, Ga.
