ottontots: Sadly, I feel I must archive this cache. I hate to do so be cause it's the very first cache I hid -- and on the day I started geocaching. I hid it at the edge of my mother's yard to honor the memory of the wonderful childhood my brothers and I enjoyed 70 years ago in this neighborhood with our friends (Our Gang).
When I first hid it, there was an ideal hiding spot for a pretty decent sized cache. Alas, a lot has changed in 12 years. The land owner across the narrow alley from my Mom's house leveled the area to make it a parking lot. In doing so, he knocked down a small tree the cache was hiding behind. I changed the cache to a camo pill bottle and hung it on a post at the edge of my Mom's property. Not as much fun as the original, but at least I was able to maintain the cache. Then a neighbor who didn't want people accessing the public alley because it went past her back yard took it upon herself to hang a "No Trespassing" sign on the post where the cache was. On my Mom's property.
Rather than get into a scrap with the neighbor, I decided it was best to archive the cache. My Mom and brother have enjoyed visiting with the cachers who have visited "Our Gang" throughout the years. Great memories, thanks for making this cache so much fun.
