Geocache Description:

Another in the series of Event Caches 'placed' in the City of London. This one, in a different pub and on a different day of the week from those that have gone before.

A short anecdote....
Many, many years ago, when I was a little lad of eight summers or so I was taken to a concert by my grand-parents. As the final song came to an end, the audience stood, applauded and shouted 'Encore'. Granddad, not be out-done also stood and waving his 'Homburg' in the air, (always very smartly dressed was my granddad) shouted "B*gger the encore... let the same girl sing again."
So.... this is another event in the tradition of those previously held in The City but just different enough to make it individual.

The venue....
for this event is a pub very close to Smithfield Meat Market. Aptly named "The Butcher's Hook & Cleaver", this pub may not be suitable for vegetarians or those of a 'squeamish' disposition! It's one of a chain of 'Ale & Pie' pubs owned by the Fullers Brewery and as such, a full range of their fine ales, including a seasonal 'Winter Warmer' will be available. Food will also be available from the bar until 9pm.

This pub has a 'mezzanine' floor, accessed by a spiral staircase from the main bar area and this has been reserved for the event from 18:30 onwards on Friday 26th January 2007.

There are currently 33 active caches within a 1 mile radius of the pub with two of them being, quite literally, just outside the door. Increase the radius to 1.5 miles and there are 67. As it's quite likely that some of you will have done most of them already, I'll endeavour to place at least one new cache within walking distance of the pub, probably during the week prior the event although with the 0.1 mile limitation, good cache sites are getting a bit thin on the ground.

The previous London events have been well attended and good fun so come and enjoy the social side of Geocaching, particularly if you've never been to an event before. Everyone is welcome.

Transport....
The nearest tube station is Barbican but Farringdon, St Paul's, Moorgate and Chancery Lane are only a short walk away. City Thameslink is also close by.

Travel bugs and Geocoins....
I cannot be responsible for travel bugs or coins left either physically or virtually at the event. You're more than welcome to 'virtually' drop bugs and coins prior to the event taking place but please don't just dump them onto a table when you arrive and forget about them. So many get left on cache pages after events and physically disappear into some travel bug black hole. If you can, make a note of who takes 'yours' and hopefully, all will subsequently go on to new caches.

And Yes... Granddad did 'get it in the ear' from Grandma when we got home!!!
