Geocache Description:

Welcome to the “Field of Dreams” Cache. This cache is our first placement and we may have over done it a bit. We have tried to mix up a few different themes based on stuff that we found around the house. Hopefully it will have a little bit of something for everyone.

The name of the cache is derived from the “Medford Field of Dreams” project (www.medfordfieldofdreams.com) which is trying to raise money to resurrect the athletic fields behind the Medford High School. The fields at that site abut this section of the fells and are one potential entry point to get to this cache. The cache is located at the intersection of three walking trails and can be reached by hiking in from South Border road from the north or closer from the south from Rt. 38 at the gate near Victory Park or, for a longer walk, further up at the gate across from the Oak Grove Cemetery. The location of the cache is visible from the trail.

This section of the Fells is called the Lawrence Woods and is adjacent to the Lawrence Estates neighborhood that shares the same origin of name. This is a pretty section of the fells that is not as heavily visited as those near the Wright’s pond tower or the Sheepfold. When I first started looking into Geocaching a few months ago I noticed that there did not appear to be any caches in this area where our family frequently walks in all seasons.

We have tried to provide a little bit for everyone. There are a few toys (M&M and Pez dispensers, Stickers, and the like). There is also a map of Yosemite National Forest that we brought back from our trip out west last summer. I am hoping that folks will drop off tourist maps that they may have lying around from various trips that they have taken over the years or will even keep this cache in mind when they are away and try to remember to bring back an extra to share. Lastly, I have included a bunch of magnetic sticker magnets on the top of this metal container. I would like to invite visitors to leave a message for the next visitor. When they visit they should try to write down the message that was there when they arrived so that they can log it on the book and on the geocaching.com site. Finally, they should change the message to a new one before they leave. I have seeded it with the first message. Add it to the log so that we will know that you found it...

Good luck and happy caching.

March 2016: Cache is currently not a ammo can, I have put a temporary cache in its place while I clean it.
